Fender Custom Shop 1961 Jazz Bass Heavy Relic Aged Shoreline Gold

The Fender Custom Shop is known for creating some of the world's greatest basses, and for perfecting the look, feel and sound of classic models from the vintage era.  This 1961 Jazz Bass is a great example of this.

For this one, we went with a color rarely seen: Shoreline Gold.  We also asked for the color to be given the "Aged" treatment to give it a real vintage vibe.  We've done this before, and love how it comes out.  The Shoreline Gold is toned down a bit, and faded to a subdued and classic look.  For the finish package, we went with Heavy Relic - it has the appearance of a bass that was played extensively for years, perhaps as a previous weapon of choice and travel companion for countless tours.  You'll see finish checking, serious wear, paint worn off (down to the wood in some places), multiple dings and scratches, and an extremely worn in neck, providing maximum comfort.  We ask for this specifically, not just to further the vintage vibe, but to also improve on the playability.  This gives you a truly broken in feel, making this bass an absolute pleasure to play.

Two Custom Shop Handwound Vintage Jazz single-coil pickups are wired to individual volume controls for a variety of tones from classic Jazz Bass growl, to funky slap, to more aggressive modern sounds. The rock solid quartersawn maple neck is topped off with a nice dark rosewood board, and a 9.50" radius.  That, along with the medium jumbo frets, makes it even easier to play.

The bass comes with the bridge and pickup covers installed, which of course can be removed (if you'd like us to do so, that's no problem).  It includes a vintage style Deluxe brown hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.
