The "Sound Heard Around the World".  The Fender Precision Bass is the true original.  This Custom Shop creation speaks to bass players that want the classic feel & sound, recreated in a variety of styles, specs and colors.  Here we introduce the 1966 Precision Bass in Aged Natural. Few instruments are as iconic as a 1960s rosewood fingerboard-equipped P-Bass -- and this bass stands out from the crowd.

Its two-piece select alder body wears a Journeyman Relic lacquer finish, while the quartersawn maple neck features a 1960 Oval “C” back-shape and round-laminated rosewood fingerboard for perfect mid-‘60s looks and feel.  This neck is super comfortable - while you get a vintage feel, it's not too thick, and very "fast playing".  The finish on the back is worn slightly, to get a bit of that broken in feel that players love.

The Custom Shop hand-wound ‘65/’70 P-Bass pickup and vintage wiring provide all the thump and warmth you would expect from a 1966 Precision Bass.  For those that want vintage sounding basses, this tone is hard to beat.

Other features include medium jumbo frets, a 4-ply tortoise shell pickguard, vintage-style 4-saddle bridge with threaded steel saddles, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut, and a disc string tree.  The bass comes with a deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.
