The Story

Used And Vintage Electric Guitars

The SG originally debuted1961, intended by Gibson to be a new and improved Les Paul for the main himself.  However, he wasn't a fan.  Be that as it may, the guitar took on a life of its own.  A wide array of artists have made it the go to guitar - while rockers like Angus Young and Tony Iommi are some of the most iconic, a wide variety of other types of players have also been known to wield an SG.  Think Jerry Garcia, Jeff Tweedy, Carrie Brownstein and Thom Yorke.  Various incarnations have existed over the years, and one of the most popular is the P90 version - that's what we have here.


Inspired by the 1960s SG Special, the Gibson SG Classic with P-90 Pickups re-creates the look and sound of the most influential guitar in both Britain and the U.S. during the psychedelic era. It has the original all-mahogany body, dual P-90 pickups, and a bound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays.  The neck is especially comfortable and easy to play.  Also, this one is super light - at just 6.4 lbs, it's perfect for anyone that doesn't want to deal with a heavy guitar.  Most SG's are light, but this one especially is.  The weight combined with the easy playability means that you could go for hours with this guitar strapped on.


The guitar is in excellent condition, has been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop, and comes with the original hardshell case.  For anyone that loves the look and feel of a classic Gibson SG and the sound of P-90's, this is a great score!

Note: the handle on the case became un-stitched (zip ties on there now)
