The Story
Joe Pass was known as the “president of bebop guitar.” Raised near Jamestown, Pennsylvania, as a teenager Joe headed for New York City where his inventive, fluid lines, advanced harmonic knowledge, and seemingly endless well of melodic ideas were immediately recognized. Perhaps Pass’ best work was for Norman Granz’ Pablo label, based in Los Angeles. During his career, Joe recorded with a Who’s Who of jazz greats including Les McCaan, Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker, Oscar Peterson, Herb Ellis, Ray Brown, and Milt Jackson.
Joe welcomed the opportunity to have his own Epiphone model. Inspired by his favorite guitar, this model has been a fan favorite due to its incredible sound and feel. The Joe Pass Emperor II is a stunning guitar and a fitting tribute to a player who was a great teacher and a great inspiration to players around the world.

Alnico Classic humbuckers provide rich, soulful tone, with enough bite to cut through the mix but retaining the warmness needed for the smooth of runs and chordal work. The neck on this one is incredibly comfortable. The classic vibes is kept with the vintage style gold tailpiece and Grover machine heads. The previous owner included a gold Bigsby that was utilized at one time, so it's there as part of the package and ready to be put on if desired. A very sturdy hardshell case is included as well.
The guitar is in excellent condition and looks fantastic - be sure to check out all of the photos. It has been vetted and setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop. Don't less this one pass by! (pun intended)
