Vintage 1960's Guild D-44 Bluegrass Jubilee Pearwood - Natural With OHSC

If you're looking for a vintage dreadnaught with a ton of tone, then here's this vintage Guild D-44 Bluegrass Jubilee! Built in Hoboken during Guild’s "Golden Era" of the late 60s and early 70s, the D-44 was specifically designed to compete with other legendary dreadnaughts of the bluegrass world, but with a tonal twist.  

With its solid Sitka spruce top now fully opened up by decades of vibration, this guitar possesses a massive, woody resonance and a sustain that you simply cannot find in a factory-new instrument. While most dreadnoughts of the era used mahogany or rosewood, this D-44 features solid Pearwood back and sides. Pearwood is a rare tonewood that sits beautifully between the warmth of mahogany and the brightness and snap of maple. It offers a balanced voice that cuts through a mandolin or fiddle effortlessly. The three-piece mahogany/maple neck provides incredible structural stability, while the ebony fingerboard and bridge add a premium touch to the overall build quality.

This specific D-44 is a player’s dream that has been fully revitalized for its next fifty years of playing. It has undergone a professional neck reset and a full refret, two essential maintenance services for a vintage Guild. The neck reset ensures a perfect, low-action break angle over the bridge for maximum volume and playability, while the fresh frets provide a new guitar feel with zero buzzing or pitting.  There's a good amount of wear on the top from pick playing, and the guitar has a super cool vintage vibe.

True to the "Bluegrass Jubilee" name, you get elegant touches, featuring a multi-stripe rosette, tortoise pickguard, and the iconic Chesterfield headstock inlay. While it may have been produced for the Bluegrass this in fact is a guitar that is versatile enough for any style of playing.

This vintage D-44 comes with its original hardshell case.  The techs in our shop have given it a full vetting and setup, so it's ready to go.  This guitar has made it through life for over 50 years and is ready for 50 more.
