Used Tokai AST-'62 S-Style Electric Guitar Sunburst With Gig Bag

Up for perusal is this Tokai AST-'62 in Sunburst, a guitar you rarely see.  We just took it in, did a double-take, and had to get it going immediately.  It's not every day that one of these pops up, especially as nice as this particular one.

This is a Japanese-made Tokai guitar that is heavily influenced by the most popular guitar shape ever made. The AST-'62 has everything you'd want. It features the classic contoured body, maple neck and rosewood fretboard, three vintage-voiced single-coil pickups, master volume, with two tone knobs, pickup selector switch, and of course the iconic tremolo bridge. What makes this model different is the unique neck shape that closely resembles its inspiration.

Based on the serial number, headstock shape and references found on the world wide web, we believe this guitar was built in the mid-80's for the American market.  The headstock shape debuted in 1985, so we're thinking that's the year this one was born.  The guitar came to us with upgraded graphite saddles, swapped knobs and without a trem arm.

These guitars that Tokai made are unique and quite a find. While this guitar does not come with its tremolo arm, it is in excellent condition and comes with a gig bag.  It's rather rare to find one that made it through this many years while staying so clean. It's been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop.  For fans of the Tokai guitars made in Japan, this is a gem!
